Three Things To Check On Before Driving Off Into The Sunset

Whenever you wake up in the morning, you do several things to get yourself prepared for a long day ahead. We take baths, brush our teeth, floss, comb our hair and even shave. These are a few of the many things that we all do day in and day out to make sure that we look our best every single day so we have the confidence to face our bosses and customers with a smile on our face and a clean shirt to boot.

Your car is surprisingly just like you or a whole lot like it. It gets dirty, it gets hungry and it even gets sick when not taken care of properly. To take care of these tricky little problems, there are a few things that we can do to make sure these things don't happen to your car. It may seem time consuming, but it's definitely a small price that you should be willing to pay in order for your car not to be in trouble.

1. Always check if there are weird noises when your engine is running.

Before driving, it's always a good idea to get the engine all warmed up before you embark on your journey. A couple of minutes of your car being turned on and kept in place will make your engine run considerably smoother than zooming off the moment you get the engine running. During this short period of time, check your car if it makes any weird sounds or noises when the motor is running.

A weird or strange noise could be anything sounding that's not supposed to be there. It could be a squeaky sound, a hissing sound or any other unfamiliar sound that you could associate to your car's engine noise. These could be indicators that might have an underlying problem of a faulty car part or a defective one at that.

2. Check if your car's tire pressure is right.

Our tires are inflated with compressed air, that's true. But what you might not know is that our tires need to be inflated at a certain amount in order for your car to run as good as it should. If your tire isn't inflated right, meaning if it's overinflated or underinflated, this might cause your car to consume more fuel than it normally should or that you might find it a bit harder to steer your car.

3. Check if all your lights are working fine.

Your headlights, tail lights and signal lights will definitely get busted at some point. Make sure that you spot these burn-outs as soon as you can before the highway patrol or any other patrol car spots it ahead of you – they will charge you a hefty fine. Doing this during the day would mean you have the luxury of time to head on down to a car shop and have those busted bulbs replaced before night comes. Always check your lights; you never know when they're going to get busted.
