Five Ways To Save On Gas

Gas prices this time around are really expensive that people are complaining all over the world. What people don't know is that there are several ways and means for us to save on gas. These little things that we might overlook might save us hundreds of dollars over the course of one year. So what are these so-called gas saving tips that we have failed to notice up until now that prices are unbelievably high?

1. Don't over accelerate.

One thing that people like to do is to put the pedal on the metal. What they don't realize is that they are consuming too much gas than they ought to. Unnecessary acceleration leads to unnecessarily higher gas consumption. Simply put, the harder you step on the accelerator, the higher your gas consumption. So the next time you're out on the road, think about it first before you go all out on the accelerator. If it's not an emergency, go easy on the accelerator so your pocket would be getting a sigh of relief.

2. Don't leave your engine idle for too long.

If you're waiting for something or someone, try turning the engine off. You'll be surprised to know how much gas you'll save once you do this tiny little thing. Besides, it's not like you're going to die of the heat or something right? But aside from saving on gas, you would also help cut down on carbon emissions from your car. This way, your pocket would stay happy and so would the earth. At least you're doing something to help curb climate change. Be part of the solution and give it a try.

3. Avoid unnecessary trips.

If you have a family at home and you've got several cars at your disposal, try thinking about carpooling every now and then. If you're headed to a direction where one of your sons or daughters might be going, why not just drop them off and use one car instead of two or perhaps even three?

4. Drive a car with a higher MPG rating.

If you live in the suburbs and you work in the city, driving an SUV to work every single day might not be a very good idea anymore especially now that gas prices are ridiculously high. If you drive like say, an expedition or a navigator to work, the costs you incur at the pump might be a bit shocking. Driving a car that has a smaller engine and a relatively higher MPG rating would do you wonders. The total amount of money you spend on gas consumption would most definitely be smaller than that of the consumption of SUVs.

5. If it's possible, don't use your car.

If you're going somewhere that's just a block away, try giving your legs a run for their money and start walking. It wouldn't just give you a good exercise it'll help you save on gas and time as well. Finding a parking spot and getting past traffic would be time consuming activities that you could do away with if you travel on foot.
